There are four major programs under family reunification.
Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor their parents and grandparents to immigrate to Canada. Parents and grandparents approved under this program receive Canadian permanent residence and may eventually be able to apply for citizenship.
Your spouse or common – law partner can be your co – signer. Your co – signer must provide proof of income for the last 3 taxation years before the date of your application.
The principal applicant must meet the following requirements.
The sponsors mother or father or the mother or father of the sponsor’s mother or father.
Spouse or common law partner of the principal applicant.
Dependent children of the principal applicant or the principal applicant’s spouse or common law partner.
Dependant grandchildren of the principal applicant or the principal applicant’s spouse or common law partner.
Income required for the 3 taxation years right before the date of your application (if you apply in 2022)
